How can we stop climate change? Unfortunately we are right in the middle of climate change. During the past 50 years, the average temperature of the Earth has risen by 1°C. Even by drastic emission reduction, we can only slow down this process. However, by offsetting your emission you are able to directly support this and contribute to living in a better world and protecting our environment.
How could CO2NTRA help me to do that? We help you determine the amount of your annual carbon dioxide emission and provide a fast, simple and effective way for your business or you to become carbon neutral. Read our tips how you can further reduce – apart from offsetting – your impact on the environment. For offsetting your emission, Co2ntra uses only CER units, as only these are audited and certified by UN. Each unit of CER applies for 1 ton decrease of carbon dioxide emission.
How can I know that I have actually offset my emission? To offset the emission calculated by you, we buy and clear the identical number of CER units, making them unavailable for the future. We provide you with a certificate for the amount you have offset and this way you are able to show that your business activity / home / car / flight has become CO2-neutral.
Why don't you plant trees instead? Planting trees is a valuable and effective measure but unfortunately it is not the best way to decrease our emissions. While trees do sequestrate carbon dioxide they need several decades to do so. If the tree falls, decomposes or it is burned in the worst case, the formerly bound carbon dioxide is released into the air again, so it is like we have stored emission for a while.
